East Riding Council Design Guide Consultation

Eryc Logo Colour

East Riding of Yorkshire Council are looking to create some design guidance for new development taking place in the authority. This guidance would sit alongside the Local Plan policies and would act as both a tool for decision making and as a tool for applicants to show what needs to be considered before an application for planning permission is submitted to help make the planning process smoother.

New development works best when it integrates well with the existing environment.  We want to capture the views of East Riding residents about what makes each of our existing towns and villages special, what works well, and what doesn’t work so well, so that we can maximise the potential of new proposals coming forward to enhance the existing built environment.

The questions are the first stage in the production of the design guidance.  Questions will ask about the town or village you live in, the characteristics of home that are important to you and what characteristics you feel will be most important in the future.

The responses to the questionnaire, along with some more targeted consultation where necessary, will play an important role in shaping a draft design guide document which will be available for public comment before a final guide is adopted. The more people who respond the better our evidence base will be so please encourage friends, family and neighbours to take part.
